How we research and rank
We want this to be the most accurate Fajardo guide on the web. There is no secret to that, just discipline, so here is exactly how we work.
Official sources first
We start with the bodies that actually run things: the U.S. Forest Service for El Yunque, the managers of the Las Cabezas de San Juan reserve for the headland and lighthouse, the ferry operator for Culebra and Vieques sailings, and municipal and tourism sources for the town. We then cross-check against current visitor reports to catch what changes on the ground.
Kept current
We update when facts change rather than letting pages drift, and we flag the things that catch travelers out, such as the ferry moving from Fajardo to Ceiba in 2018. Where a rule or price can change, we point you to the official source instead of pretending today's detail is permanent.
How we rank
When we order options, we do not just sort by star rating. We use a weighted average that balances how highly something is rated against how many people have rated it. That way a place with a handful of perfect scores does not leapfrog one that has earned a strong rating from thousands of visitors. It is a simple Bayesian adjustment, and it keeps our lists honest.
What we will not do
- We do not invent reviews, ratings, or statistics.
- We do not claim credentials or experiences we cannot stand behind.
If you ever spot something out of date or wrong, tell us. Reader corrections are one of the best sources we have.
